The Social Security System celebrated on September 6, 2024 its 67th founding anniversary in Balanga City by holding “Pensioners Day” program at the SM Mall. Last year, the celebration was held in SSS Dagupan City branch.

Joel Y. Villafuerte, SSS Balanga branch manager, said the SSS Pensioners’ Day is one the highlights of 67th anniversary celebration with the theme “sss@67:Kabalikat ng Bagong Pilipinas.”

Vilma P. Agapito, SSS senior vice president, Luzon Central 1 division, urged the young residents to check with local social security office their names, correct spelling and other personal data for easier processing when the need arises during their employment.

She likewise asked everyone to report to SSS office any establishment that does not remit contributions of their employees. “Ireport nyo lang po sa amin at kami bahalang mag-imbestiga diyan,” she assured the audience who are mostly pensioners.

Dr. Catherine Perez, medical specialist III, who talked on health and wellness, said the seniors should know about the top ischemic heart disease– heart attack and stroke. Other health conditions that affect the ageing population, Perez said, include diabetes.

On awareness and prevention, Perez said the seniors should watch their diet and avoid being overweight and obese.
